Lapel Pins For Foodies: Show Your Love For Your Favorite Cuisine
Food is a subject almost everyone loves to talk about! What is your favorite food? What is your favorite restaurant? What is the traditional food of your home country? Food uniquely brings people together in a way that most other things in this world do not. When we prepare food for someone else, it is a gesture of love.
When it comes to food, variety is the key to healthy eating and not getting bored with your diet. Here at PinMart, we think the same about food lapel pins! From apples to avocados, we have a terrific variety of food-themed pins. When starting a pin collection, it is nice to start with food pins, as these are a great conversation starter and there are so many fun things to do with food pins (besides wearing them)!
Let’s start with a great combination of food-themed pins to get you going. Below are our favorite food pins.
The Top 10 Food-Themed Lapel Pins to Add to Your Collection
1. Being about 40 minutes from downtown Chicago, we feel the need to share a delicacy we love here – the Chicago-Style Hot Dog Pin is one of our favorites. If you have never had one, a Chicago-style hot dog must include the following: an all-beef Vienna hot dog, a poppyseed bun, a pickle spear, tomatoes, sport peppers, celery salt, neon green pickle relish, and mustard. NO Ketchup. Ever. Onions are optional, but yeah, get the onions!
2. To represent breakfast, what can be better than a fried sunny-side-up egg with two strips of delicious bacon? The Bacon and Egg Pin is the perfect thing to wear to your next brunch! The pin has gold-toned lines that elevate this humble, standard fare.
3. Sushi can be one of those foods that someone either loves or hates! Some people are squeamish when it comes to consuming raw fish. We get this. However, not all sushi has this ingredient. The colorful sushi rolls are simply divine to look at and make a perfect pin. This Sushi Roll Lapel Pin is abstract, so you can just say it’s your favorite roll!
4. A food that is almost universally loved is pizza! Now, what to put on the top is always up for discussion. On our Pizza Pin, we chose pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, green peppers, and a ton of gooey, melted cheese.
5. For the past few years, one food has increased in popularity like no other. Can you guess? It’s the avocado! If you search online for avocado recipes, you will find thousands. From plain to on toast, the avocado is used so much more than in guacamole. Our Avocado Lapel Pin has the perfect green color of a newly ripened one – the half even has its pit firmly attached for freshness.
6. Donuts are a perfect food for anyone with a sweet tooth. The fun thing about donuts is that they come in so many wonderful flavors, sizes, and textures. For sure people can argue over which is the best – cake or fried. We love them all, especially this Donut Lapel Pin with pink frosting and colorful sprinkles.
7. While technically not a food, we consider coffee to be an essential part of so many people’s daily lives that we included on our top ten list our Coffee To-Go Cup Pin. This cute to-go cup has a black cover and the quintessential brown paper holder, so your hands don’t get too hot from the perfect brew inside!
8. Who doesn’t love to snack? We do here at PinMart, and that is a big reason we had to include our Salted Pretzel Lapel Pin on our list. Perfectly twisted and baked to perfection, this pin even has tiny granules of salt. It’s a perfect snack – have a few or grab a bowl!
9. If you can’t decide what to have for dinner, a constant crowd-pleaser is always tacos! This is a perfect pin to wear for taco Tuesdays! Topped with sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese, it is the perfect bite every time.
10. We do feel as though fruit should take the last spot for a complete food-themed pin collection. We chose the banana for a few reasons. First, of course, is that bananas taste great! They are the world’s most popular fruit. Easy to transport, they don’t need refrigeration, and are a perfect size for a snack. They’re packed in lunchboxes all over the world. How many bananas do you eat in a week?
If you would like to choose your own food-themes pins, PinMart has 67 different food designs to start your collection off right! The most popular way to use lapel pins is of course to wear them. Some people never leave the house without a fun pin on their shirt or jacket. Wearing pins isn’t the only way you can display a food pin, though.
Pinterest is a great resource for coming up with ideas for pin displays. While we don’t link any of the pictures we found here, a simple search of DIY lapel pin projects or lapel pin displays will also show you hundreds of fun ideas on how to display your new food-themed pin collection!
One idea we found on Pinterest was to take an old wooden frame and paint it yellow. The frame is open with no glass, and on the back was glued a piece of corkboard. With the addition of a few well-placed pins, you have a lovely little work of art to frame. You don’t have to paint the frame yellow; any color that matches your kitchen décor would be nice, but we liked the bright yellow in the kitchen as it gives a pop of color.
Pins can be arranged in shadow boxes as well. Shadow boxes are picture frames with more depth in each of the frame sides. They are meant to protrude out from the wall and are designed to hold objects with equal depth. The extra dimension does add interest to a pin collection, as the pins being flat it draws the viewer in for a special look at what is inside.
Embroidery hoop art is very popular now. New designs and trendy sayings have taken this art form and modernized it to suit today’s décor. One way to get in on this trend, even if you aren’t crafty, is to use an embroidery hoop and wrap it with a colored piece of fabric. Instead of painstakingly hand embroidering stitches, simply add your food-themed pins to the fabric, and presto- you just made an adorable piece of art to hang on your kitchen wall. One of the nice things is the hoops come in so many sizes. You can get several tiny ones and add one pin per hoop, or go all out and purchase a large hoop and add all your pins!
If you like to wear an apron while you cook, this is also an obvious place to display your food pins. It is fun to wear a taco pin for days you are making tacos to let everyone know what’s for dinner. We have also seen a framed rectangular corkboard displayed in a kitchen where Monday - Sunday had its own little painted section, and a food pin would display what is on the menu for that day! This is a fun and colorful way to let everyone in your house know what is for dinner all week. Food lapel pins also make the perfect gift for the professional chef in your life!
As you can see, food pins are a great way to begin a lapel pin collection. The pins are fun and colorful and make great conversation starters. There are so many great pin designs at PinMart that can give you a lot of inspiration for creating some kitchen décor magic. We hope you have fun building a food-themed pin collection!
