Food is a subject almost everyone loves to talk about! What is your favorite food? What is your favorite restaurant? What is the traditional food of your home country? When it comes to food, variety is the key to healthy eating and not getting bored with your diet. Here at PinMart, we think the same about food lapel pins! 1.   Being about 40 minutes from downtown Chicago, we feel the need to share a delicacy we love here – the Chicago-Style Hot Dog Pin is one of our favorites. If you have never had one, a Chicago-style hot dog must include the following: an all-beef Vienna hot dog, a poppyseed bun, a pickle spear, tomatoes, sport peppers, celery salt, neon green pickle relish, and mustard. 6.     Donuts are a perfect food for anyone with a sweet tooth. The fun thing about donuts is that they come in so many wonderful flavors, sizes, and textures. One idea we found on Pinterest was to take an old wooden frame and paint it yellow. The frame is open with no glass, and on the back was glued a piece of corkboard. With the addition of a few well-placed pins, you have a lovely little work of art to frame. You don’t have to paint the frame yellow; any color that matches your kitchen décor would be nice, but we liked the bright yellow in the kitchen as it gives a pop of color.

Pins can be arranged in shadow boxes as well. Shadow boxes are picture frames with more depth in each of the frame sides. They are meant to protrude out from the wall and are designed to hold objects with equal depth. The extra dimension does add interest to a pin collection, as the pins being flat it draws the viewer in for a special look at what is inside.

Embroidery hoop art is very popular now. New designs and trendy sayings have taken this art form and modernized it to suit today’s décor. One way to get in on this trend, even if you aren’t crafty, is to use an embroidery hoop and wrap it with a colored piece of fabric. Instead of painstakingly hand embroidering stitches, simply add your food-themed pins to the fabric, and presto- you just made an adorable piece of art to hang on your kitchen wall. One of the nice things is the hoops come in so many sizes. You can get several tiny ones and add one pin per hoop, or go all out and purchase a large hoop and add all your pins!

If you like to wear an apron while you cook, this is also an obvious place to display your food pins. It is fun to wear a taco pin for days you are making tacos to let everyone know what’s for dinner. We have also seen a framed rectangular corkboard displayed in a kitchen where Monday - Sunday had its own little painted section, and a food pin would display what is on the menu for that day!
